Melissa Caparitia -LPC, LMHC
My name is Melissa Caparitia, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York, and a Professional Counselor in the state of Connecticut. I graduated from the Mercy College in 2016 with a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, with certification in substance abuse counseling. For five years, I have helped families from all different backgrounds work through challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and difficulties with family/relationships, as well as childhood trauma. As a therapist, I greatly enjoy helping people be their best selves and work toward achieving their goals.
I understand that creating change is difficult and takes effort. In my experience, providing a safe space for people to express their feelings without the fear of judgement is very important. As a therapist I meet the client where they are, I work at the pace of the client. I understand that with every issue there is a root problem, and targeting that root is very importance for therapy to be successful. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you, I promise to provide an environment of understanding and comfort through my approach to counseling.
I’m currently pursuing my Doctoral in Community Care and Counseling- with a specialty of Traumatology. The foundation of my practice comes from a client-centered approach, which focuses on building a solid relationship between counselor and client, as well as empathy, mutual respect, and support. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I am here to help you each step of the way. I also provide Christian Counseling for those that are interested.
