Sheila Hughes -LPC-A
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. My previous experience as a school
counselor involved working with adolescents to help them navigate the personal, social, and
educational challenges they encountered on their journey to adulthood. I helped them
understand and manage their emotions, gain confidence and develop healthy self-esteem. I
provide a person-centered humanistic counseling approach that creates a safe place for clients
to discuss their primary concerns such as anxiety, depression, mood instability, and trauma. We
would explore your thoughts, beliefs, emotional reactions, and family dynamics and collaborate
to develop attainable goals that improve all areas of your life. This involves empowering the
client through self-awareness using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy, and other
effective therapy approaches. I have also worked with adults experiencing a life transition due
to the loss of a spouse, job, or divorce. I listen with compassion and guide them in developing a
new life plan. I have assisted adolescents and adults in achieving their emotional, behavioral
and educational, social, and career goals.
