Meet your facilitator, Dana Saad, LCSW, RYT 200.
Dana is a Registered Yoga Teacher and Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Dana completed her yoga training at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, and has pursued additional training in Trauma Informed Yoga (through Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga) and Yoga Nidra (through the iRest Institute). Her Trauma Informed Yoga classes incorporate a mindful approach to trauma processing, deep relaxation, and mind/body balancing intended to treat current symptoms related to an over active nervous system. Our emotions live in our bodies like water in a river. Without sufficient processing, the energy of trauma will be stored in our tissues and cells until it can be released. Stored trauma can lead not only to depression and anxiety, but to physical pain and progressive erosion of the body's health. To fully process trauma and live our best lives, we must address it in both the psychological and the physical self.
Yoga Nidra, translated as Yogic Sleep, can be described as conscious sleep. It is a form of yoga that promotes deep relaxation and the opportunity for your brain and body to recharge. Just 20 minutes of Yoga Nidra is said to be equivalent to 2 hours of REM sleep. This practice helps activate the relaxation response in the body and improve the functioning of your nervous system and endocrine system, both of which affect your hormones. Meditation and Yoga Nidra help cells regenerate and repair, while decreasing anxiety and improving your mood. All of these practices take time to master so we recommend committing to the multi-session packages, however drop in classes are available.
With several yoga offerings, including Yoga for Teens and Yoga for Mind Body Wellness, there is sure to be a class that fits your needs. This past year took a lot out of all of us. Give back to your self in 2021and enroll today. For more information on dates times call 203-261-7090 or email Dana directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
